Gödel and his Incompleteness Theorems (part 4 of 4)

by Antonio Rodríguez

translated by Alexander Rodríguez

To stress a few points from our previous fascicle, Gödel has demonstrated how to translate everything that may be expressed in PM's alphabet through numeric means. All numbers are distributed among two different classes: numbers that express well-formed formulas (which are not necessarily true), which we will call WFF, and numbers that do not express such formulas.… Continue

Gödel and his Incompleteness Theorems (part 3 of 4)

by Antonio Rodríguez

translation by Alexander Rodríguez

The PM system, in its demonstration of mathematical truths created by Russell, exposes a series of rules of inference through which truths may be derived from other previously discovered truths. Each rule functions sort of as a black box, inside which one or more truths can be input, and another truth results as an output. The interesting fact about the rules exposed in PM is that they are purely… Continue

Gödel and his Incompleteness Theorems (part 2 of 4)

by Antonio Rodríguez

translation by Alexander Rodríguez

Taking off from where the topic was left last time, Bertrand Russell wished to develop a mathematical system with which any fact could be demonstrated. If it was true, it could be demonstrated through Principia Mathematica, and everything demonstrable through PM was necessarily a fact. Its self-referentialism was the main weak point against this goal, so it was controlled through a system of… Continue

Gödel and his Incompleteness Theorems (part 1 of 4)

by Antonio Rodríguez

translation by Alexander Rodríguez

I'll be translating and editing a series of writings about Gödel and his incompleteness theorems, of which the first part is here presented (I'll bring the other parts depending on how interested the audience shows to be ;) ). It is a fascinating subject involving logic and epistemology - which I know many here are fans of - that in my opinion may help expand our framework, and also moderate our… Continue

"now, but not yet"

I use this in "judo type" argument on amils. and historic premils. (Ladd)

While discussing this type of language I use it to show how the christians between 30-70 where in this kind of situation where the promise of complete salvation was what the believer could hang on to then. But since AD70 we have it. It is a done deal. Also I tell them that they cannot really say that they are saved completely since they apply all these scriptures to the period in wich they live presently. They "hope" that they will receive salvation, they live on a promise but they do not actually have salvation.
