David, I will get to my disagreements with your post below but first a comment or two.  I’m looking for the meat here.  I think (if I get you right) your saying, Christians have been bad in the past so play nice.  Try not to believe your really righ…

I am pretty familiar with Dawkins - might I ask - what is his argument that you find so convincing regarding morality. You didnt state it. Do you believe the Bible when it says the man that says that their is no God is a fool and Romans 1 etc on the…

Yeah, I would have to disagree with you on that one, Mike. Have you read Dawkins' "The God Delusion?".... in chapter 6 he discusses the accusation that "[atheists have no basis for right and wrong without [God]" and he does, in my opinion a commenda…

Rethinking the God of the Bible by David Lee

Rethinking the God of the Bible
by David Lee

Evolutionary biologist and staunch atheist, Richard Dawkins in his New York best seller “The God Delusion” states that: “the God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all of fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control freak; a vindictive, blood thirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist...capriciously malevolent bully” (50). Dawkins also notes that “Thomas Jefferson- better re… Continue

Compassion: More than Meets the Eye ..........by David Lee

Compassion is deemed by many as not only an admirable trait, but a popular one as well. The word “compassion” can be heard spoken of everywhere from a small local coffee shop to the largest “self-help” seminar in the world. Most bookstores tend to have a plethora of books dealing directly with the topic and if Googled, 23,000,000 matches will result. It seems fair to say (and it would be an understatement) that people either desire to be compassionate or surround themselves with others who are.… Continue

Blind Faith: Ignorance or Piousness? By David Lee

It is Christmas Eve and as a young child anxiously waits for Santa Claus to come, his parents tell him that if he does not go to bed, he will be disobeying them and thus, since Santa wants little children to be good little boys, he won’t come with presents. The child responds with, “but I just want to see him!” The child can either take the parents bait, go to bed, and continue believing in Santa because of the “magical” appearance of gifts under the tree and that he was a good boy or he could s… Continue

2nd Peter 3

Hey friends, been busy lately but need a favor. Does anyone have any good (summarized) articles or commentaries from a preterist perspective on 2nd Peter 3? Especially about the scoffers? Let me know.... I am just to busy to write one up right now. Thanks!

This is the only response I get?

I sent a very lengthy article by Don Preston to my friend who is a PP and Greek Prof and this is the only response I get? This is so discouraging. People don't even give it a thought...........Except: "You're wrong!!"

Hi David,

"I will try to give the article more time in the future. But it seems he is arguing a common point--namely that we should make a distinction between a spiritual and physical resurrection. We cannot. The biblical writers did not hold to a Platonic dualism, but viewed us… Continue

"When Shall these things be" (Edited by Keith Mathison) is killing me...

Friends...I have to be honest. I would love it if Preterism was wrong. I mean it has caused a lot of grief for my family. And I am always hoping that someone will provide me with some compelling evidence to believe otherwise. That being said, I hoped that "When shall these things be?" (Keith Matthison) would do the trick or at least put a stone in my shoe.

So far it has only put a headache in my brain. I am not done yet, however so far the attempts to refute Full Preterism are borderline pathet… Continue

The Olivet Discourse and some thoughts on the transition of Covenants

1. Matt 24:1-2 records Jesus stating that the Temple, which was being admired by the disciples, was destined to be completely destroyed.
2. Matt 24:3 records the disciples of Jesus clearly associating the destruction of the temple as the end of the Mosaic age and an event that would reveal the presence (or coming) of Jesus as Messiah.
3. Matt 24:4-32 Jesus does not correct them as though their assumption that all three events were not synonymous, but instead answers them by describing many event… Continue

I desire peace....so I must fight.

I truly feel that the ramifications that come from a correct eschatological view are and will be a wonderful blessing to the whole world. I am going to spend my time trying to change everything and I want to encourage you all (at a time that I feel really low because of the last meeting I just had with a dispensationalist pastor in denial) to get as serious as you can. Serve God in a way that shocks the rest. I am serious . It is time for us to strive for true love and compassion, with our wives… Continue

Thanks for letting me know about Pete. When I read what he posted, it just seemed like an honest plea for help. I have not read over all his posts, so I didn't know about the situation with him.

BTW, it's nice to meet you too. Lori is my best friend, and I've read a lot of things you posted, so I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself.

Wondering too what your view is about the Convenantal Creation issue? I've never studuied this or heard of it before. Always wondered who Cain married when he was cast out of the garden though!
Thanks,
Heidi

I don't know if you have seen it yet or not, but Pete just posted a blog asking "How to get rid of what's making him speak in tongues". He mentions your name twice in the post, so I figured you might be a good person to give him an answer to his questions.

David Lee, no offense taken. I dished it out pretty heavy to Pete. I hope that Preterism does not get sunk in issues like speaking in tongues, infant baptism, and church government. Our protest to the established Evangelical system is to offer a Biblical understanding of God's kingdom and covenant.
I was raised pre-mil, called myself reformed in my early 30's, then fell in love with Preterism at first sight. Now I think I will live the rest of my life as a Preterist Particular Baptist.
I've never met another Preterist in person. I do take alot of grief from my friends and family, but at least my mom and my wife listen to me. My wife, Bethany, has been a Christian all her life, and even went to Bible college, but she doesn't put her mind to agreeing or disagreeing with Preterism. At least I got her to vote for Chuck Baldwin for president.
I look forward to getting to know you and the rest of my online Preterist family.

When I was laid up for 8 weeks with a broken tibial plateau, that is when I found how much scripture I could cover. I would never wish what happend on anyone, but I wouldn't mind being in that position again. All day to listen to preaching, read the Word, and study ...plus coffee!

First, you mentioned Face Book to me yesterday, then Derrell did in a message to me today. By 2 witnesses....... maybe I am suppose to join up?? :-) So, you don't think I have a pea brain? That's sweet of you. I plan on ordering Max King's book over the weekend; along with some other's that have been recommended. Don't worry, I usually keep plenty of yellow highlighters handy; can't study without them! Hope you have a great day.....

Hey W.M.,
Thanks for the suggestion of Max King's book. I don't know if my pea brain can handle reading an 800 page book, but to use it as a reference to Romans would be wonderful. Appreciate your help.....

Hey David,
Have a question to throw at you. I was reading in Romans this morning and wondered if I am seeing Romans 8:13 right? "For if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live." Living according to the flesh would mean not being righteous thru faith (OC). Putting to death the deeds of the body; is this referring to our being conformed into the image of Christ as believers under the NC? Thanks for any insight.....

Lori
