Quick Question - "On Behalf of the Dead" (1 Cor 15:29)

It is difficult to know who where those people that where baptizing for the dead. The argument Paul is presenting is that there is resurrection of the dead. So he says that even for those who baptize…

Transformation or IBD Translation in Philippians 3:21?

We know that we will be like Him. Philippians 3:21 says that.

Php 3:21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

Some argue that although our body will be like his glorified body, the process by which we acquire it is not the same. They say this to support the idea that Jesus’ empty tomb does not imply that the saints will also leave empty tombs i… Continue

No Metaphor in John 5:28

I. All which are in the Graves

John 5:28-29. (28) Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, (29) And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

What is the interpretation of John 5:28? Is He speaking about spiritually dead people or to physically dead people? Do cadavers hear?

This passage has a parallel passage… Continue

Refutation of IBD based on 2 Corinthians 5:1-4and 1 Corinthians 15:51-54 (A continuation of “The Mistake of the Taylor’s Friend”)

The passage we are going to study is 2 Cor 5:1-4. First we will see what the apostle is talking about and then if this passage and 1 Cor 15:51-54 support the IBD belief.

2 Cor 5:1-2 For we know that if EARTHLY HOUSE of this TABERNACLE were DISSOLVED, we have a BUILDING of God, an HOUSE not made with hands, eternal IN THE HEAVENS.

2Cor 5:2
a. For in this
b. we groan,
c. earnestly desiring to be CLOTHED UPON with our HOUSE which is FROM HEAVEN:
d. If so be that being CLOTHED we sha… Continue

The Mistake of the Tailor’s Friend

It is a mistake to say, as Patrick Stone in his blog IBD Deduction from Scripture, that 1 Cor 15:53 means that “the spirit “puts on” or wears the spiritual body”. Let’s read again:

1Co 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

Who or what is being clothed?

Corruptible must put on incorruption. As far as I know, the spirit in not corruptible; it is the body that is corruptible (gr. phthaltos=perishable) and decays. And this mortal must put on… Continue

Oh, and setting aside our disagreements I would like to say that you construct your arguments very well, especially for english being a second language. I look forward to more debates...

Hi, welcome to this site. It is nice to meet you. Preterism is quite interesting to look at. Many people immediately dismiss it without careful consideration. Anyway, it is nice to meet you...
