I have a friend that just loves Jesus and is thankful for the eternal life he has received. He doesn't study theology, and he won't argue with anyone over how the Bible should be interpreted. He just keeps things simple and enjoys his time with othe…

Richard, I can TOTALLY relate to what you're going through, but yes, when it comes to God's truth & right doctrine, it IS worth it! Why? Because I know that my conscience would be bothering me SO much right now if I'd renounced the little that I kno…

No worries - I get so dejected when reading (and admittedly sometimes participating in) all the fray but if we don't have each other to lift us up in prayer then we are lost. Your situation lays heavy on my heart as while my family does not embrace…

Yeah, I am on the same page with you on that. It fits so well with the context and also as you stated, to understand it as physical flesh there is kind of ludicrous... Thanks, R. Sire

The great commission was given directly to the disciples and it did not include the entire planet earth. Their focus was limited to "the nations" (ethnos), the nations of Israel. So does this mean that those who became their disciples were not to sp…

Why are Christian Relationships so difficult especially it seems with Doctrine related issues...

You know, I am continuing to go through a terrible time with the church I formerly attended as well as with my wife in regards to full preterism (which I hold to). I appreciate the advice I have received from both Alan and Dr. Birks, which was very kind of them. I mention the above simply because it relates to the overall theme of this blog which is relationships and doctrine type stuff....

Seriously folks, there is so much strife on this website, or at least surrounding the whole preterist thi… Continue

The Great Commision - Matt 28 and Acts 1 wrongly interpreted, what are the possible implications of wrong exegesis?

Ok, basically I do not know exactly where I am going with this, but perhaps those who are interested in adding their perspective can help me to understand the dangers of using a scripture incorrectly, or out of context to support something this in great thing which is 'the sharing of the gospel and making disciples of all nations'.

So basically I heard a sermon today where the texts shared were the Matt 28 (the Great Commission) and Acts 1:8 So here they are:

16Then the eleven disciples went t… Continue

The Dangers (or Costs) of Bible study and the Questioning of Traditional Doctrines

Well sometimes I just want to write stuff down. I wrote a lot of stuff on my Facebook over the last 3 months and it got me into a lot of trouble, but I felt sort of like I had to do it. It was like I was a bottle of soda that had been shaken and I had to open up the cap and relieve the pressure. I had to give voice to what I was really becoming convinced of in regard to fulfilled eschatology. I am sure there are some of you that perhaps did or still do feel the same way. But after I started feel… Continue

I am needing pastoral counsel...

I am needing to receive pastoral counseling regarding the situation I am in. Or at least some insight/perspective/wisdom... It certainly does revolve on around the topic of preterism and my relationship with my wife, kids and the church I attend. Is there any way that one of you pastoral type folks could perhaps contact me?? I am pretty much a mess and am in a mess right now... I guess if one of you would be willing to chat with me on the phone that would be really good. I basically am feeling v… Continue

Man’s standing of life or death throughout the history of the world - I am trying to get my mind around the whole life death thing.

So if you guys can correct or enlarge my understanding of this I would as always greatly appreciate it. These are just rough ideas I thru down. It basically shows you where I am at with my understanding of these things. I am basically trying to understand how life and death operate in the spheres of the physical and spiritual thru the history of the world and what not...

Thanks, R. Sire

Richard,

I've been going to my current church for 8 years and have been a preterist for 6 of them. My church is futurist, but is now finally leaving the dispy view in favor of partial pret. At least the Pastor is :). I've waited a long time to hear my Pastor say that Matt 24, at least the first part, was fulfilled in AD70. So, i do know what you are going through, the waiting that is.

Trust in the Lord and wait patiently for Him,
martin
