Ken Gentry and 2 Peter 3 logical conclusions
(Just a repeat but felt like posting this again because of a recent conversation going on)
Ken Gentry PARTIAL PRETERIST:
"Evangelical (and reformed) preterists (e.g., R. C. Sproul) take seriously the time texts of Scripture and apply those prophecies to A.D. 70, a redemptive-historical event of enormous consequence." “Think of it: If these words in these verses do not indicate that John expected the events to occur soon, what words could John have u…

Below is a letter that a "New Covenant Theology" believer John G. Reisinger wrote to R.C. Sproul. It is fitting to share here because of a recent accusation made against one of our Admin's at this site (whom I know for a fact is not an Antinomian).
Hebrews 7
12For when there is a
change of the priesthood,
there must also be a change of the law.
Hebrews 9
9
It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt,…

2 Corinthians 3 - thoughts - The Image of the Lord
Really not "thoughts" as much as just letting the scripture speak with a few things pointed out in the scriptures.
2 Corinthians 3
7But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious,
<= Old Covenant so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
8How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather gloriou…

"Delight yourself in the Lord & He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust Him & He will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like the noonday sun. Be still before the Lord & wait patiently for Him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger & turn from wrath; do not fret--it leads only to evil. For evil men will be cut off, but thos…

You know, I am continuing to go through a terrible time with the church I formerly attended as well as with my wife in regards to full preterism (which I hold to). I appreciate the advice I have received from both Alan and Dr. Birks, which was very kind of them. I mention the above simply because it relates to the overall theme of this blog which is relationships and doctrine type stuff....
Seriously folks, there is so much strife on this website, or at least surrounding the whole preterist thi…

In this week's message, I demonstrate that Paul was referring to Israel by his use of "the creation" and that he was not referring to the cosmological creation. The creation was indeed set free from its bondage to corruption. The message can be found at

* A FEW ANNOUNCEMENTS
A) Recently I was accused of possibly being a Docetist. Rather than even acknowledge this lie with a blog entry addressing the entire thing, just know that I am not even close to a Docetist. It is a total misrepresentation. Basically if you want more answers, feel free to ask me. Or better yet, just look up pretty much any James White article / blog - on the Trinity / God / Jesus' nature - (basically I agree with just about everything he would say).
B) Things are looking…

Why did the Apostles sometimes lay hands on believers to give the Spirit instead of the Spirit being given by faith alone? What think ye?

* Some Quotes About John Calvin
“It would hardly be too much to say that for the latter part of his lifetime and a century after his death John Calvin was the most influential man in the world, in the sense that his ideas were making more history than those of anyone else during that period. Calvin’s theology produced the Puritans in England, the Huguenots in France, the ‘Beggars’ in Holland, the Covenanters in Scotland, and the Pilgrim Fathers of New England, and was more or less directly resp…

Below is part of a give and take I have been engaged in with a long time friend. This particular reply was made to a response my friend made in reply to a comment I made. He said:
As for the apostles “having perfect knowledge of resurrection, forgiveness, justification, sanctification, or glorification”, I think it is plain that they had nothing of the sort. Paul himself admitted that he was like a man looking through a dark glass, and that his knowledge was imperfect. The NT letters…

I've read and quoted the following passage a zillion times but never considered the effective difference between what Martha believed and what Jesus said.
Then Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You." 23 Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again." 24 Martha said to Him, "I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day." 25 Jesus said to her, "I am th…

Hello All:
This is a work in progress. I am trying to come up with something fairly simple and non-technical that I can share with futurist friends/family. I welcome any and all feedback. I'd like to "keep it simple", yet have it reflect the nuances that accompany Biblical interpretation without it being redundant or cumbersome. I'd like to expand where needed, and cut back where not needed. Hopefully some of you may find this helpful.
Thanks in advance,
Bryan

The Spirit of Adoption is the same as being given the Spirit as a pledge, or deposit. The actual process of adoption was not yet complete at the time of the writing of Romans, just as the transfer from the temporal house to the permanent house was incomplete at the time of the writing of 2 Corinthians. You can listen to the message at

Tired of all those poor and humiliating Christian arguments against Atheism? Just kidding, that was a bit of a snipe I admit.
David Berlenski, though he is a fellow at the Discovery Institute, is not often accused of being a Christian. And, no I’m not saying ID=Christian or vice versa, I’m saying this man is not a Christian by his own admission. A quote from him at the

The very question reopened the overture of Glapion. Luther
might now repudiate The Babylonian Captivity and invite discussion
of the financial and political pretensions of the papacy. This was his
opportunity to rally a united Germany. In a voice barely audible
he answered, "The books are all mine, and I have written more."
The door was closed, but Eck opened it again. "Do you defend
them all, or do you care to reject a part?"
Luther reflected aloud, "This touches God and his Word, This
affect…

* The trick of works vs the treats of grace.
A shy man fully decked out in a full academic costume completed his Halloween preparations early on October 31st. He went out on this day of trick or treating dressed like a seminary professor.
Oddly enough, he walked across the street and stood in front of a door-the only one he went to. That door was one most would never knock upon on the day before All Hallows Day. When he knocked on the door, it sounded like a hammer.
