What is the purpose and the function of the Church in the first Century?

Dear brethren, What is the purpose and the function of the Church in the first Century? And some are saying that it is limited to the first century only? I Cor 15:28 Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all. ...especially what is it mean by God may be all in all?
