Saw this quote Jason posted over on the Reign of Christ - worth sharing.
To echo an early Reformation thought, when the plough man and the garage attendant know the Bible as well as the theologian does, and know it better than some contemporary theologians, then the desired awakening shall have already occurred. ~ Gordon H Clark Continue
Recently it was said that you can not be a Full Preterist and hold to the grammatical-historical approach to scripture by one of our critics. I am going to demonstrate quite easily that you can, and actually should be a Full Preterist, if you do.
Dr. Ken Gentry claims to use the historical-grammatical approach to scripture.

In BCS most of the advocates are teaching that the animals in Genesis are actually people. Please allow me to demonstate that the animals are not people in Genesis 1-9. All you have to do is interpret Genesis with Genesis and it becomes VERY clear. This view has problems on the most basic levels. Until these most basic issues are really ironed out, I certainly will not take it very seriously, though I do like many of the people who believe it.

The Hermeneutics of the "Experts"
OK I will keep this very brief - just a quick example.
The Partial Preterist Experts hermeneutic would dictate that I hold the time-texts as AD 70 and this dictates to me that 2 Peter is fulfilled already according to that hermeneutic.
Ken Gentry - PARTIAL PRETERIST:
"Evangelical (and reformed) preterists (e.g., R. C. Sproul) take seriously the time texts of Scripture and apply those prophecies to A.D. 70, a redemptive-historical event of enormous cons… Continue
Ken Gentry and 2 Peter 3 logical conclusions

"Evangelical (and reformed) preterists (e.g., R. C. Sproul) take seriously the time texts of Scripture and apply those prophecies to A.D. 70, a redemptive-historical event of enormous consequence." “Think of it: If these words in these verses do not indicate that John expected the events to occur soon, what words could John have u… Continue

Below is a letter that a "New Covenant Theology" believer John G. Reisinger wrote to R.C. Sproul. It is fitting to share here because of a recent accusation made against one of our Admin's at this site (whom I know for a fact is not an Antinomian).
Hebrews 7
12For when there is a change of the priesthood, there must also be a change of the law.
Hebrews 9
9It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt,… Continue
2 Corinthians 3 - thoughts - The Image of the Lord
Really not "thoughts" as much as just letting the scripture speak with a few things pointed out in the scriptures.
2 Corinthians 3
7But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, <= Old Covenant so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:

* A FEW ANNOUNCEMENTS
A) Recently I was accused of possibly being a Docetist. Rather than even acknowledge this lie with a blog entry addressing the entire thing, just know that I am not even close to a Docetist. It is a total misrepresentation. Basically if you want more answers, feel free to ask me. Or better yet, just look up pretty much any James White article / blog - on the Trinity / God / Jesus' nature - (basically I agree with just about everything he would say).
B) Things are looking… Continue
* Some Quotes About John Calvin
“It would hardly be too much to say that for the latter part of his lifetime and a century after his death John Calvin was the most influential man in the world, in the sense that his ideas were making more history than those of anyone else during that period. Calvin’s theology produced the Puritans in England, the Huguenots in France, the ‘Beggars’ in Holland, the Covenanters in Scotland, and the Pilgrim Fathers of New England, and was more or less directly resp… Continue

* The trick of works vs the treats of grace.
A shy man fully decked out in a full academic costume completed his Halloween preparations early on October 31st. He went out on this day of trick or treating dressed like a seminary professor.
Oddly enough, he walked across the street and stood in front of a door-the only one he went to. That door was one most would never knock upon on the day before All Hallows Day. When he knocked on the door, it sounded like a hammer.

* Hello All
Recently one of our newer members (once again / no surprise) received some unwanted contact / harassment from the Full Preterazzi that lurk around.
Please be sure (if you do not want contact) to not post anything such as contact info (phone / email etc.) on your home page - if you do not wish for this to happen.
I may soon make the site entirely private for a time (a while) to avoid these issues.
This also seems to drive people to join because there are many who "surf" our site f… Continue
* Does the Gospel of John teach saved by free-will?
Clearly no one is "born again" by free-will. We find this in the 1st chapter.
John 1
13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
John 3 often cited as the free-will verse. But look at the surrounding verses context. First of all it is about being born again. Notice above and below - it talks about that not being a decision by man. Also - the context is Jesus speaking to a Jew that… Continue
* The Law after AD30
Recently a good question was asked: Does the scripture, explicitly say that the 12 disciples or Paul sacrificed? I am not talking about any one else but these 13 men.
I think that the book of Acts answers this quite well. At the time of Acts (after the cross) they were claiming to be doing nothing against the law of Moses.
Paul saying Gentiles should still keep part of the law but not be burdened by it entirely, since it is passing. Implying that Jews still kept it.… Continue
* Acts 13 compared to Romans 10, 11, 13
I am re-reading Acts for fun - and I am finding many connections to what we find in later Epistles. It is just fun to see all of these connections. Here is one I really like.
Gentiles make Jews jealous / salvation / ends of the earth.
Acts 13
44On the next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord. 45When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and talked abusively against what Paul was saying. 46Then Pau… Continue
